From 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday June 3, tantalize your taste buds with samples of local restaurant fare while soaking in the sounds of local bands at a Taste of Ann Arbor. This annual community event blends food with live entertainment, sidewalk art and even educational activities sponsored by the Ann Arbor District Library or by the University of Michigan Exhibit Museum.
Taste of Ann Arbor takes place on Main Street between William and Washington in downtown Ann Arbor. Admission to the event is free and food samples range from bites at $.50 each to larger tastes at $4. This year a diverse array of both old and new Ann Arbor restaurants are participating, like Silvio’s Organic Pizza, Arbor Brewing Company, Cafe Japon, Mani Osteria and Bar, The Ravens Club, Jamaican Jerk Pit and the Cupcake Station, to name a few. In this capacity, Taste of Ann Arbor offers the opportunity to get out and taste food from that restaurant you haven’t tried yet or to revisit that old favorite that you haven’t been to in a while.
While you’re enjoying your food, and perhaps also hula-hooping, you can listen to free live music at the Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch stage. Located at the intersection of Main and Liberty, the stage will have music throughout the day from local bands the Juliets, The Appleseed Collective, Nicole P’Simer, Hotels & Highways with Mia Dyson and Abigail Stauffer.
Taste of Ann Arbor is put on by the Main Street Area Association, a not for profit organization that works to promote the success of downtown Ann Arbor, and this year’s sponsors are Bank of Ann Arbor, Big George’s Home Appliance Mart, Renewal by Anderson, the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority and, yours truly, iSPY Magazine!
