The Macpodz, a fixture in the local music scene, play this week’s Sonic Lunch. Self-descriped as “disco bebop, salsa rave, alien exhaust jazz”, their music has a combination of funk, rock and electronic. The band members are percussionist Nick Ayers, bassist Brennan Andes, keyboardist Jesse Clayton, Griffin Bastian on drums and Ross Huff playing the trumpet. Last year The Macpodz released The Truth (EP) followed by a music video of title track in 3-D. Their live performances have an energy that audiences cannot resist dancing to. Plan a stand-up lunch this Thursday.
Joining The Macpodz for lunch is Sophistafunk, a band all the way from Syracuse, NY. The trio performed at the Ann Arbor Art Fair last year on the 107one stage, and returns this summer with another dose of funk, hip-hop, and electronic.
Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch begins at noon in Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor with lunch and beverages provided by fellow Ann Arbor fixtures Arbor Brewing Company and Mighty Good Coffee.
