Before embarking on their “Six Wheels on the Road Fall Tour” next month, The Ragbirds are giving Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch a live performance this Thursday at Liberty Plaza. The very international but always local band began when frontwoman Erin Zindle and her husband Randall Moore were joined by three more members in 2005. That year The Ragbirds released Yes Nearby and have since then created three more studio albums, the latest being this year’s Travelin’ Machine. Now comprised of percussionist Randall Moore, guitarist TJ Zindle, bassist Brian Crist, drummer Loren Kranz, and multi-instrumentalist Erin Zindle, The Ragbirds have a sound that Cheryl Wilson of The Uncommon Sense describes as “so unlike anything you’ve seen in these parts, you may begin to wonder if you’ve teleported to another land”. In a converted diesel bus fulled by recycled waste and vegetable oil, the band performs nation-wide and has played at over a dozen festivals like Rothbury, Electric Forest and Blissfest. Across the world in Japan their single ”Book of Matches” topped Osaka’s 2009 charts at #1. Champions of music with grassroots values, The Ragbirds bring the energy of the world to a local stage.
The Ragbirds will be performing at noon, along with food from Sparrow Market and Cafe Ambrosia beverages. Click here to see The Ragbirds’ performance at last summer’s Sonic Lunch!
