Some would say the Green Bay Packers for their Super Bowl victory. Others might argue the NFL won big with the largest televised event in American history or the Mid American Conference with 13 players representing the MAC. Still, most would protest that Detroit was the big winner, with all the hype and talk behind the Eminem-Chrysler 200 Imported From Detroit commercial, now with over 4 million views.

I’d like to argue all of those winners with THE one, true winner from this past Sunday: YOU, the dude or ladythat lives in Washtenaw County. Why you, you ask? It’s simple really, but basically you should be proud to live in this area after the weekend we had. I’ve compiled a list for ease of explanation, and having a list is just nicer to look at:

1. UofM legend Charles Woodson finally got his ring and will be forever remembered with his inspirational and moving halftime speech.
2. EMU standouts, Charlie Batch and T.J. Lang both got some well deserved recognition in the local and regional media.
3. Ypsilanti native and Packers Defensive End Cullen Jenkins joined Woodson with his new hardware.
4. You probably had some kind of comic relief as you heard for days people in Dallas complaining of 20-30 degree temps. As if it’s something us Michiganders aren’t accustomed too.
5. You may now get back to life without football, aka, being productive members of society and no more rent payments to your couch in which you’ve occupied every weekend the past 4 months.
