WEMU’s Linda Yohn hosts this 27th annual celebration. Ariel Toews-Ricotta directs the choir in a variety of seasonal pieces, including a new arrangement of “Silent Night;” the popular “Carol of the Drum;” and “Rise Up Shepherd,” arranged by Ann Arbor resident Karl Osterland. Christopher P. Heidenreich conducts the band in more sounds of the season, including “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” a Christmas “fantasy” arranged by Jerry Bilik; “I Wonder as I Wander,” by John Jacob Niles, and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson. James Wagner performs Handel’s “Concerto for Organ,” arranged by local resident George Apple. The program concludes with the combined band and choir (and audience) singing Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival” and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” Concert sponsored by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and Jim and Millie Irwin. 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.), Pease Auditorium on EMU’s campus. Admission free. www.ypsicommchoir.org.
