VYIE to Perform at Woodruff’s on February 19
By David Nassar
Who is VYIE? According to founding members and self-proclaimed “friends and protagonists of a like-minded cause,” Janey Criss and Jessi Monroe, there are three ways to answer that question. “VYIE is the name of a darkly inspirational non-fiction character. VYIE is a four-letter-word. VYIE is a band.” Combining experimental synth-pop hooks and thick vocal clouds, the Atlanta-based deathpop trio—including percussionists Alec Yeager—is set to release their much anticipated debut album entitled “Nightingale.” A seemingly dichotomous mix of digital and analog, dark and angelic, rhythmic and atmospheric, Nightingale is more than an album: it is, as the band suggests, an imaginative journey in the dark, “where reality and fantasy bleed into one another and visions begin.” In support of the album, they’re hitting the road for month-long tour that lands them on stage at Woodruff’s in Ypsilanti on Tuesday, February 19.
