Corner Brewery’s Rat Fest 2012 Celebrates Small-Batch Beer and Local Homebrewers

Calling all small-batch beer connoisseurs! Tickets are now available for Corner Brewery’s third annual Rat Fest Saturday, January 28, 2-5 pm, celebrating small-batch beers crafted by local amateur and professional brewers. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at the Corner Brewery and Arbor Brewing Company Pub & Eatery and, if not sold-out, at the event for $30. Ticket price includes entry, appetizers, commemorative glass, plus more than 30 beer samples from amazingly talented local home brewers and brew clubs. Corner Brewery is one block north of historic Depot Town at the corner of Norris and Forrest Streets.
Corner Brewery’s Rat Fest highlights Rat Pad beers, special small-batch beers brewed onsite in a 10-gallon brew system. Rat Fest showcases local home brewers and brew clubs from the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit areas. A few of this year’s participants are Ann Arbor Brewers Guild, Brighton Home Brew Club, Motor City Mashers, Muskrat Mashers, Ugly Mug and The Sons of Liberty. They will offer tastes of their unique and tantalizing homebrews ranging from orange creamsicle ale and honey badger APA to pig roast porter and loaded baked potato stout.

This year will offer a little friendly competition! Rat Fest attendees will be able to vote for their favorite beer, favorite group of beers, along with several other categories. The Rat Pad to receive the most votes will be crowned King or Queen Rat.
Due to the popularity of last year’s event, Corner Brewery will be closed to the general public during the duration of the event to provide a relaxed atmosphere for ticket holders to talk with and learn from the home brewers and just kick-back to enjoy their new favorite brew. More information about Rat Pad releases and Rat Fest 2012 can be found at: http://www.arborbrewing.com/brewery/ .
