LePop: Nova Atlantis

Where Oceans Meet Heavens1

Presented by Charlie LaCroix Art Brokerage

LePop is a traveling pop-up art gallery intended to breathe new life into underutilized corporate spaces available for lease or sale. For the next several months Charlie LaCroix will present a series of art exhibitions in the former MyBuys space in the Comerica building at 101 N. Main St in downtown Ann Arbor. These shows feature the work of up and coming artists who specialize in cutting edge art across a variety of media.

The first, Nova Atlantis, is a three-week exhibit within the LePop gallery highlighting paintings and sculptures by local artists Brian Donovan and Genevieve Vanzandt. Donovan’s dreamlike, ethereal paintings, celebrate the female form and foggy realities drawn from his eclectic taste. Vanzandt’s organic, fluid sculptures nearly come alive sending your imagination to the depths of the ocean and the farthest reaches of outer space within the same walk around.

The opening of Nova Atlantis will be held Friday the 13th from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. Live music provided by recording artist, Pato Margetic, another Michigan native on the rise. Check out Pato at MTV.com/music.

This is a free event for your viewing and listening pleasure courtesy of Charlie LaCroix Art Brokerage.

Regular gallery hours will be Monday-Wednesday 6pm-9pm and Thursday-Saturday 12pm- 9pm. Sundays are being reserved for appointments and special events. Charlie LaCroix invites the community to inquire about holding your next business meeting, yoga class, marriage proposal and more at LePop. More info can be found on their Facebook page.

Talib Kweli @ the Blind Pig [Review]

Not since Mac Miller performed back in December of 2010 have I seen the Blind Pig so full of life. It helped that it was a sold out show – when you get Talib Kweli at a venue the size of the Pig, holding capacity becomes moot...
