Corner Brewery

Your Home Away From Home
By Tim Adkins

When you walk into Corner Brewery, it feels like your stepping into your living room. There’s a cozy and comfortable ambiance that really sets your mind at ease, to know that everything is going to be alright. At least that’s what it’s like when I walk in.

In true European style pub fashion, there are no servers or waitstaff. You walk up to the bar, order and then sit back and enjoy, just as if you were at home and walked to the fridge only to return to your trusty recliner. You can peruse the variety of board games, lounge in their comfy – slightly used furniture or hang out back in the Beer Garden and unwind as if it were your own back yard.

Hailing as Ypsilanti’s one and only brewery, Corner Brewery is primarily a home for brewing and bottling Arbor Brewing Company creations, however there are always a few original Corner creations available on tap. Happy hour is every day from 4pm – 7pm, and features all non-premium beers for $3, and cider and wine for $5. Mug Club memberships are $100/ year and entitle the member to a personalized mug, price specials, and invitations to special beer tastings. (beer release parties, which are free to mug club members and $10-$15 for everyone else. If you went to all 10 beer release parties between ABC and Corner Brewery – you would have your membership paid for!  The benefits for the mug club are good at both ABC and Corner Brewery!

Corner Brewery is also the only Ypsilanti-based brewing company on the docket for the 2011 Michigan Brewer’s Guild Summer Beer Festival (Beerfest!), and they’ll be featuring: Strawberry Blonde, Hoptown Brown, Sacred Cow, Mackinaw Island Fudge, Sodibo, Flamboyant Red, Demitrius, Blackberry Blonde, Ypsitucky Bourbon Ale and Framboozled. They’ve also got special post Beerfest events planned for the entire weekend, starting Friday with Firkin beers including: Strawberry Bliss, Blackberry Blonde, Hopped-Hop Town Brown and Bourbon Barrel of Jack Hammer. Saturday showcases Peach Cobbler Weizen, Show Stoppin’ Maple Marzen, Michigan Strawbery Blonde and Belgian D.I.P.A. Rat Pads. Sunday brings a Halcyon Wheat Wine. For more on Corner Brewery and all of their upcoming events, visit them online at www.cornerbrewery.com or stop by for a cold one Monday - Thursday 2p.m. – 12a.m., Friday – Saturday 12p.m. – 1a.m. or Sunday 12p.m. – 10p.m.
