Right On
I’m going to start out this post with smoke-plumed, crunched-out, tone-bent wails and low, brooding grooves – gonna spin off on complex, cut-up rhythms and just zone myself off into mind-expanding stares resonating with reverb-riddled drones…
And then I’ll get poppy and let the sunshine in…
So first, consider the Brooklyn psyche-trio Rhyton, bringing their feedback singed trips that slam post-rock jazz into wormhole-wrung Kraut Rock (you know, the cosmic cave jams that Can or Faust used to conjure).

With their latest self-titled LP-only release, these heady-rock resonators hope to inherent the deconstructionist/experimental torch passed down by Thrill Jockey-label mates Tortoise (or Mouse On Mars, in some sense). Their tour brings them to Woodruffs on the night of Gold Feelings – March 29th with Turn To Crime and Super Hit. And if you’re interests piqued – here’s the Kickstarter: …
That, and, just 25 minutes ago, I was in northwest Detroit, off of Gratiot, “on set” for a video-shoot, watching Matt Jones, suited up in what looked like a drum-major’s uniform, being dragged down the street by a truck, while sitting in a rocking chair. He’s got a video coming soon for his song “Hand Out The Drugs…”
Stay tuned.
