There are only seventeen days until Christmas! For some of you, this brings a smile to your face and images of family gatherings and movie marathons to your mind. For others, this countdown is an obnoxious ticking clock that won’t be muted until you finish your Christmas shopping…
The malls are only getting more crowded. Shopping-induced traffic is on the rise, and we haven’t even seen the worst of Michigan winter roads yet. The likelihood of getting injured while checking off items on your nephew’s Christmas list increases dramatically with each approaching day. So strap on some shoulder pads, down a glass of holiday eggnog and be sure to keep your wits about you.
Or you could check out Tiny Expo this Saturday, a pleasant indie arts and crafts fair just outside Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown. Filled with friendly local artists and an array of unique photographs, paintings, t-shirts, jewelry and other creative gift options, it’s a perfect way to get your Christmas shopping done and lower your stress level. It’s also a perfect way to support local art and keep your dollars invested in the community.
Created by four alumni of the University of Michigan’s School of Art & Design, Tiny Expo is in its second year of connecting artists with their community. It has a kind of warm and quirky feel to it, with types of artwork that can be described as bizarre, humorous, intriguing and profound.
