As February slowly creeps into March,

it was another fun and busy month here at iSPY. We killed it at the FordLake Frozen Leap, Friday night at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival was crazy good, EMU men’s and women’s basketball is getting ready for the MAC and potentially the NCAA tournaments and we got the news some huge upcoming shows: Kevin Hart and Wiz Khalifa at the EMU Convocation Center.

We also welcomed in some new comers to our community: Cafe Ollie and B-24 Espresso Bar, Kim’s Resale Shop and Satchel’s BBQ among others. Sadly we will see some leave in the coming months in Borders and Ypsi-Arbor Bowl. Hopefully we see some movement in downtown Ypsi as the “Entertainment District” remains non-existant and a terrible eyesore as I drink my morning coffee at Beezy’s. As a side note, I find it odd that while DTE was the proposed reason behind the closing of Pub 13 and eventually half of Washington St. The J’Neil’s sign still shines and lights the darkness of the Michigan Ave corner. I could go on with some quite sarcastic comments, but I’ll just stop here…

Speaking of lights…camera, action! (I couldn’t help it) The Ann Arbor Film Festival hits center stage later in March and should definitely be worth the buzz it’s getting. Earl Boykins will have his jersey retired during the February 27th game against WMU. We’ll have a ticket giveaway to see Earl in action as the Milwaukee Bucks play the Pistons on April 8. Any contest suggestions are welcomed! EMU athletics in addition to an iPad every game, is giving away a FREE 1 year lease at The Lake Shore Apartments during tomorrow’s double header! So, make sure you check that out too.  I heard there was a day in March where people get together and drink themselves stupid. I think it’s St. Patrick’s Day and I think you can spend it with us over at Woodruff’s. I’m getting there early for my free mustache. What else, hmm, oh The Get Up Kids, you remember them, they’re releasing a new album and we got the interview for March’s issue. They are pretty cool guys, focused on sticking to their guns.

I’m sure there’s more, but by now you’re either annoyed or asleep after the novel I just wrote. So now it’s your turn, tell us your highlights of February so far and what you’re looking forward to most in March.
