A2 Folk Festival this Friday

SneakPeek.AnnArborFolkFestival.CitizenCope

The Ann Arbor Folk Festival is finally here, this weekend! Personally, I feel like Friday night is the more appealing of the 2 nights and the Avett Brothers should be great. I saw them last time they were in Ann Arbor at Michigan Theater and they were absolutely amazing. If you’re not familiar with their work, here’s my favorite song by them: Murder in the City

Citizen Cope is also playing Friday night. An interesting addition to the Folk Festival lineup as it’s far from traditional folk music. I saw him last, over the summer at Royal Oak Music Theater. I’m a big fan, but I’ve seen him play better shows. I’m sure he’ll be back with one of his better performances. Here’s a cool version one of my favorite Cope tracks: Bullet and a Target

Another highlight for Friday night will be iSPY’s cover story, Theo Katzman. I saw Theo play at this summer’s Michigan Roots Jamboree and he blew me away! Such a fun show to see and I’m excited to see him again. He’s got that Jason Mraz, fun-loving side to his music. Here’s a jam that helped fund his new cd via Kickstarter: Brooklyn

All 3 above are for sure to be worth the price of admission. Ladies, let’s be honest, they look good. Fellas, they sound good. That’s a recipe for a great evening!

So, are you going? If so, who are you most excited to see?
